Zensa or NoTattooPain? What to check before you buy

Zensa is one of the tattoo numbing cream brands people in the US search for alongside NoTattooPain. The useful comparison is not a star rating but what each brand publishes about its product, where you can buy it and who answers when something goes wrong.

This page puts those points side by side. The Zensa column is taken from the brand's own packaging and listings. The NoTattooPain column is taken from our product pages. We sell NoTattooPain, so read this as a structured comparison from a seller, not as an independent review.

Side by side

Zensa and NoTattooPain, point by point

Ten things worth checking before you buy any numbing cream, with what each brand publishes about them.

Product range Zensa Numbing Cream in a tube, plus skincare products under the same name. Two creams: Green 80% and Gold 55%. Plus a numbing spray, gel and foam, and an aftercare range.
What the number means Zensa prints a lidocaine percentage (5%) on the pack, which is a declared concentration rather than a brand strength label. 80% and 55% are our own strength indicators for the two creams. They are not lidocaine percentages. The declared actives are listed on every product page.
Declared active ingredients Lidocaine 5% as the declared active, as printed on the pack. Check the panel on the tube you are buying. Lidocaine, prilocaine, epinephrine and vitamin E in both creams. Full ingredient list on the product page.
Tube size Commonly a 30 g tube. 10 g per tube. Our body-area guide shows how many tubes a placement needs.
How it is applied Per the directions on the pack. Thick layer, cover with cling film, leave for 60 to 90 minutes, wipe off just before the session. Step by step on our how-it-works page.
Where it is sold Through the brand's own website, Amazon and selected retailers. Directly from notattoopain.com and through partner studios. Not sold through marketplaces.
Dispatch and delivery Depends on where you buy it. Dispatched Monday to Friday. Delivery estimates for your address are shown at checkout and on our shipping page.
Customer support Through the brand or the retailer you bought from. Email and WhatsApp, Monday to Friday. We reply within 24 hours on business days.
Returns and guarantee Depends on the brand's or retailer's policy. Unopened products can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Not happy with the results? Contact our team. The terms page has the details.
Reviews On the brand's own site and on the retailers that list the product. Collected on our Trustpilot profile, linked from every page.

Zensa details are taken from publicly available Zensa packaging and product listings and were last reviewed on 6 October 2026. NoTattooPain details are taken from our own product pages on the same date. If you believe something here is out of date, email info@notattoopain.com and we will check it.

Buyer's guide

How to choose a numbing cream

  1. Read the ingredients panel, not the number

Every brand prints a strength label on the front. The panel on the back tells you which actives are in the cream. Compare panels, not front labels.

  2. Know who you are buying from

A cream that is sold through many unrelated sellers can arrive in different versions and with different support. Buy from a seller who publishes contact details and a returns policy.

  3. Plan the timing

Numbing creams need time under cling film before the session. Whatever brand you pick, follow the application time on the pack and apply at home, not at the studio.

  4. Match the strength to the placement

Ribs, feet and hands are more sensitive than a forearm. A longer application time and a thicker layer matter more than the brand on the tube.

  5. Do a patch test the day before

Apply a small amount on the inside of your arm a day before your appointment. This applies to every topical anaesthetic cream, ours included.

Where NoTattooPain fits in

NoTattooPain makes two creams. Green 80% is our strongest formula and the one most customers choose for longer sessions and sensitive placements. Gold 55% is the milder option for smaller pieces, first tattoos and sensitive skin. Both use the same declared actives and the same 10 g tube.

We sell directly from notattoopain.com, which means one seller, one support team and one returns policy. If you prefer to compare before you order, the product pages list the full ingredients and the how-it-works page walks through application step by step.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is NoTattooPain the same product as Zensa?

No. NoTattooPain is a separate brand with its own formulas, Green 80% and Gold 55%, sold directly by NoTattooPain. Zensa is a numbing cream brand with a declared 5% lidocaine concentration on the pack, sold through its own site and retailers.

Is NoTattooPain an alternative to Zensa?

Yes, it is one of the alternatives. NoTattooPain is a tattoo numbing cream in a 10 g tube, applied under cling film before the session, sold directly by us. Zensa prints a lidocaine percentage on the pack, while NoTattooPain uses a brand strength label and lists its declared actives on the product page.

Does the 80% on NoTattooPain mean 80% lidocaine?

No. 80% and 55% are our strength indicators for the two creams. Zensa prints a declared lidocaine percentage instead. NoTattooPain's declared active ingredients are lidocaine, prilocaine, epinephrine and vitamin E, listed in full on each product page.

Can I use Zensa and NoTattooPain together?

We do not recommend combining topical anesthetic creams from different brands. Pick one cream, follow its application instructions and do a patch test the day before.

How long before my session should I apply NoTattooPain?

Apply a thick layer 60 to 90 minutes before your appointment, cover it with cling film and wipe it off just before the session starts. Apply at home so you arrive with the cream already working.

Can I buy NoTattooPain at Walmart or CVS?

No. NoTattooPain is not sold in shops or pharmacies. Order from notattoopain.com and we dispatch Monday to Friday. Delivery estimates for your address are shown at checkout.

What if I am not happy with the results from NoTattooPain?

Contact our team by email or WhatsApp. Unopened products can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and if you are not happy with the results we want to hear from you. Our terms page describes the process.
